The 2K Phone Vivo Xplay 3S

The Vivo XPlay 3S Smart phone is the world’s first smartphone with a 2560 x 1440 pixel screen

and the pixel density comes in a 490ppi.
How about the rest of the XPlay 3S? Well, it’s powered by a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor and has 3GB of RAM, just like the Galaxy Note 3, plus there is 32GB of built-in storage space. The body is made of metal and at its thinnest point, measures a mere 4.5mm thick. It weighs 172 grams overall. Other features include a 13-megapixel camera, 4G LTE connectivity, and a choice of black or white color shells.

Similar to the iPhone 5S and the HTC One Max, the Vivo XPlay 3S is mounted with a finger print sensor. It’s mounted just below the flash unit on the back of the device, and can be used to unlock the phone. The finger print sensor not only unlocks the device, but can also be configured to decrypt and encrypt sensitive documents. The screen resolution isn’t the only new tech debuting inside the XPlay 3S, as audio experts DTS have fitted the new DTS Headphone X audio chip, which provides cinema-style surround sound to match the cinema-style display. The device runs on a modified version of the Android OS which the manufacturer calls Funtouch OS.  Some of the additional software modifications done by the manufacturer include an app termed Photo+, which is a video sharing app that uses augmented reality to enhance videos. Other software enhancements include gesture assignment for contacts, mood-based music playlist, “air wake” gesture input to toggle apps, location-based reminders, City Show AR app (like Layar) to browse nearby offers, and a “timeline desktop” app that lists your photos and interaction with friends chronologically.

Unfortunately, Vivo doesn’t sell its smartphones internationally, so we’re unlikely to get our hands on this unique device; but that’s doesn’t mean we won’t be getting our own 1440p devices soon. The prime candidate to introduce the next level of smartphone screen tech to us is Samsung, and it could do so with the Galaxy S5 early next year. In the meantime, we can only look on with envious eyes at the Vivo XPlay 3S.
